Fascism and World War III?

I was talking to a friend last week and he said something that really got me thinking.

He said "Hey, the Great Economic Depression of the 1930s gave us Adolf Hitler and World War II - This time around won't be any different - once again we'll get fascism and a new world war!"

Is this possible? Yes, I'm afraid it is. My friend is right - history does tend to repeat itself for one very simple reason - the times may change and the events may change but human nature remains the same!

This time around "things" will indeed be different but our response may be a carbon copy of the events of the 1930s and 1940s.

What is fascism anyway? In simple terms it means that the corporations take over the political power that rightly belongs to the people. Then because it's so highly profitable for them - they do what fascists always do - they launch wars and destroy freedom.

Is the U.S. a fascist country? We're about half way there. The government no longer needs search warrants to get into our homes. We no longer have the absolute right to confront our accusers under new homeland security rules. We now have secret courts that can issue secret arrest warrants.

But we still have some freedoms remaining but the corporate insiders have a plan that will have us begging the government to take what remains of our liberties.

Another terrorist attack might occur sometime during the next few years - it's almost inevitable. In the wake of that attack we could feel the full force of government oppression. The Homeland Security Agency may become the new Gestapo.

The Real ID act will allow the government to identify us all and put all our most personal information into a vast, unified government database. Then we'll be issued our government ID complete with biometric data which will allow the government to track us, stop us and instantly identify us.
